SELANGOR International One Design Youth Championship
Meet the Team representing the Nation and SMU at the International Selangor One Design Youth Championship. Heard there are 9 boats coming from 4 to 5 countries. Hope it not the same Australian Team who CREAMED everyone on the Langkawi International Regatta held in Feb 2007.
Stay on this blog to get daily updates on the team's progress during the Regatta. =)
BEN MUI - SKIPPER
"From sailing lasers to the J24 to now the Platu, I have learnt so much both in terms of racing and in terms of teamwork. I am especially excited about this regatta because it will feature evenly matched racing among youths from so many different countries and backgrounds. And of course, we have a score to settle with our old rivals from around the region! :)"
ALVIN ONG - BOW
"To come to think of it, I didn't expect to get myself involved in another regatta so soon after coming back from the blast of an experience that was Thailand! But nevertheless, I'm already beginning to miss all the close starts, quick hoists, fast drops, intense concentration and teamwork that makes racing so much of a challenge and excitement. Really glad to be given the opportunity to relive these moments so soon with this new and dedicated team; I really hope that the deferment for my last minute NS call-up goes through successfully! All I can do is keep my fingers crossed right now and hope for the best!"
JASON ZHOU - BOX & MAST (Everything else including serving drinks...haha)
"It cannot be denied that I am all excited and prepped up for yet another regatta after Coro Cup. The experience at the Top of the Gulf left me panging for more, and I want to ride on the lessons I've learnt there and trainings I've put through in Singapore, and put them to good use in Selangor."
RENFRED TAY - TRIMMER
"Been travelling too much and missing Singapore. Now I can say I am a converted Keelboat sailor from my dinghy time. Keelboat sailing is fun and drives on teamwork. Can't wait to get out in the water again.
Planning to bring my PS2 games over as there is nothing much to do there in the evenings. Hee hee"
POH LIP HANG - MAINS .....and being crazy on the boat
"One word sums it all, “excitement”. And I can’t wait to go for the regatta! The sun, the sea, the sky and most importantly the company (er.. and the beer). To all of the sail team, we will do you guys proud and SMU proud!"
"Till then God Bless while we are away!"
"Woo Hoo.. I’m loving every moment of sailing…"
